Just joined, so I wanted to introduce myself briefly.

Hi! I'm an environmental consultant from southern Louisiana...I'm currently going through my NAUI certification. Very excited to get out there.

I'm also a photo-nut...I studied environmental photojournalism in my undergrad, but realized I had a better shot of paying the bills if I concentrated more on the "environmental" side and doing the "photo" part more as a hobby....though I keep my camera with me out in the field and submit any good photos to our PR department, so some of them get used in newsletters, calendars, website...

...anyway, sorry, I'm rambling. I'm really looking forward to photo-logging my underwater adventures. I have been price-shopping underwater housings for my existing cameras...I have a Canon Powershot SD750 and an old Digital Rebel 500D. I don't want to bring the Rebel with me at first (because it's still new to me, primarily, and I've recently invested a lot in it.

So can anyone make recommendations on brands for housings, or make a recommendation for a good underwater digital cam? I'm not going for professional quality or a super-huge investment (because after all, I'm just getting started...so I've got a lot of money going towards just getting my dive gear), but it would be nice to have something to bring back to "wow" people with after a trip. :)

All tips appreciated!

Barely 3 weeks into 2008 & I've finished editing last years photo's which is a vast improvement on last year!

The highlight of the year has to be diving with the hammerheads on several occasions although finally getting to swim with dolphins (albeit briefly) is a close second.

The following photo's were all taken between October & December in various sites around Sharm El Sheikh & Dahab.
